5 Steps To Writing a Powerful Affirmations

Based on research, we process between 50,000 to 70,000 thoughts daily, 30% of those thoughts are daily general survival thoughts and 75% of the rest of our thoughts are negative, limiting and disempowering thoughts.

This means that many people go through life daily, with a lot of negative thoughts bouncing around in their heads.

Unfortunately, when we think like this, our beliefs, emotions, mood, confidence, perceptions, decisions, actions and outcomes, will be negative as well.

Negative thoughts are self-fulfilling prophecies.

In another research, where the 300 participants were over 55 years old, over a 2-year period, participants were asked to respond to questions indicating how they feel about negative experiences, as a result of repetitive negative thinking, i.e. regretting past events or worrying about the future.

Then their cognitive functions, including attention, language, spatial cognition, and attention, were assessed. 113 of the participants had PET scans,to measure the amount of tau and amyloid deposits in their brain (I.e. the 2 proteins that accumulate in the brain that cause Alzheimer’s disease).

The researchers found that the participants who exhibited higher levels of repetitive negative thinking patterns had more cognitive decline, decline in memory and much higher amyloid and tau deposits in their brains.

If you continue thinking negative thoughts, you’re destroying your brain, health and life.

If you intentionally think positive thoughts instead, you will attract and create the health, experiences and life of your dreams.

Here are 5 Hacks for Creating Powerful Affirmations

Hack #1 – Think Only About What You Want.

Everyone has something in their life that they don’t like and would like to change.

Do you wish you could be more patient?

Do you want to be more productive at work?

Are there several areas of your life or specific behaviors, that you would like to improve?

Then, the first step is to be very clear about what you really want, the next step is to write it down, third step is to ensure that what you want  is in alignment with your dominant beliefs, core values, and the things that are important to you.

Following these steps will keep you committed and motivated towards achieving them.

Hack #2: Convert Your Negative Thoughts Into Positive Thoughts

If you struggle with negative thoughts and self-talk, take the time to write down these recurrent negative thoughts and beliefs. Then, start reframing these thoughts and beliefs by writing down the positive opposites of these thoughts and beliefs especially finding an area in your life, where the negative thought and belief is not true.

For example, if you constantly think “I am not good enough”, reframe and write that “I am very good in mathematics and solving complex problems”.

Write this down as an affirmation:

Another example is, if you regularly think “I am not talented enough to take my career to the next level”, reframe that and write your affirmation as follows, “I am a very experienced and skillful professional.”

Hack #3: Write Credible and Achievable Affirmations

Your affirmation must be realistic, achievable and based on facts.

Understand that affirmations are not magical spells. Whatever you do not believe, you cannot achieve.

If you don’t believe, you can’t make positive impact on your life.

Hack #4: Write Your Affirmation in the Present Or Past Tense

For your affirmation to be effective, you have to see and believe them already happening to you in real time, or having happened to you.

Imagine yourself being transported into the future where you have acted positively based on your new thoughts and beliefs. Then write your affirmations in the present or past tense, as if it is already happening, or has happened to you. Writing in the present or past tense helps your subconscious mind believe that the statement is true or has already happened.

Hack #5: Add Passion And Emotion To Your Affirmations When You Declare Them

When your affirmations carry emotional weight, they have more power and become more effective.

I created 14 very special and powerful affirmations in my book The Power of Daily Affirmations and explained how repeating positive affirmations regularly can help you overturn negative limiting and disempowering thoughts, beliefs, emotions, behaviors and outcomes, in your health, career and life.

To create the right emotions, you have to really want what you have written as your affirmation. So, your affirmations must mean a lot to you.

For example, if you are procrastinating about a new project, you can affirm and repeat to yourself that, “I am very motivated and excited about starting my new project.”

Affirmations help you manifest your desires and create the future of your dreams.

Shalom
